After a bitter, prolonged media battle, Johnny Depp, 53, and Amber Heard, 30, have finally agreed to a divorce settlement reportedly worth nearly $10 million.

The estranged couple, who met on the set of "The Rum Diary," has been involved in a controversial split for months, ever since Heard accused Depp of domestic violence in May. While Depp denied the charges, claiming his ex-wife made up stories to ruin his reputation, Heard was granted a temporary restraining order against him. The order forbade Depp from contacting Heard, and directed him to stay at least 100 yards away from her. Reports regarding the settlement came just a day before the hearing on Depp's restraining order was set to begin.

In a joint statement, the pair agreed to resolve their divorce privately. While admitting that their relationship had been passionate and volatile at times, the two claimed neither party has made accusations for financial gain. A source further claimed that the financial settlement had already been finalized over the weekend; however, Heard reportedly wanted Depp to admit to the domestic violence accusations against him. Depp bluntly refused.

According to the Daily Mail, the tipping point for Depp, which eventually led to the settlement, were the reports about his drug-induced, bloody rage March last year. The incident was said to have occurred over a phone call, while Depp was in Australia filming the fifth installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" and Heard was in London filming "The Danish Girl."

The pair reportedly got into a heated argument, causing Depp to throw his phone at some glass, thereby resulting to an injury, TMZ reported. Court papers filed by Heard claim that Depp took his bloody finger, dipped it in blue paint and wrote a message on a mirror, accusing his then wife of cheating on him with co-star Billy Bob Thornton. While Depp refused to comment on the issue, several photos taken a month after the alleged incident show Depp's finger wrapped in a scarf.
