It has been reported that "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" has been cancelled, and that a reboot will be done instead with Orlando Bloom leading the all new cast.

According to Movie News Guide, Disney is no longer interested in proceeding with the sequel, and is just planning to reboot the popular movie franchise. Rumor has it that Bloom will be reprising his role as Will Turner and replace Johnny Depp as the leading character. Bloom was part of the first three movies, along with Keira Knightley, but both did not return for the fourth sequel of "Pirates of the Caribbean." The third movie showed Turner take over the ship of Davey Jones and being allowed to go on land only after every 10 years.

According to Headlines and Global News, Depp will still reprise his character as Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean" reboot but the role will be limited, as Disney decided that the story of the new movie will focus more on Turner and his son Henry.

It has also been rumored that while Depp will still be in the cast of the new movie, this will be his last time to play the role of his iconic character. The reports of a reboot have also been confirmed by Bloom separately in an interview in 2014. It is said that "Pirates of the Caribbean" reboot will star Brenton Thwaites as Henry Turner and Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth, the love interest of Henry.

While it is unclear why the giant entertainment company has decided on a "Pirates of the Caribbean" reboot, it is apparent that this is going to be the last time Depp will play Captain Sparrow because Disney is not interested in doing a sixth sequel of the film anymore. While this is sad news for fans of the witty pirate, it is still certain that they will look forward to the release of the film.

Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" reboot is eyeing a May 26, 2017 release date.
