"Stranger Things" co-creator Matt Duffer said in an interview that it makes sense to model the series' future seasons to "Harry Potter."
Duffer expressed that he wants to cover the issues of the cast by using "Harry Potter" as template. He said he wants to see a parallel growth between the actors and their characters in the series, Screen Rant reported.
Additionally, Duffer also wants to portray the tumultuous teenage years in "Stranger Things." He opined that this template will inevitably move forward the plot of the upcoming seasons.
"I love watching kids growing up on camera. So the idea seeing where these kids and these characters are one year later is cool to me. And it allows us to explore the mythology of our nether," Duffer told Entertainment Weekly.
The other obvious advantage is that it allows the narrative to stretch albeit a cohesive plot. Since the series is also situated in the 80s, it will give a lot of room to reminisce the era and artifacts of the decade within that universe.
"Stranger Things" has been a surprise summer hit for streaming giant Netflix. Talks about plans on its future seasons have been popular but there is no word yet on whether or not the series will be picked up for a second season. Given the reviews and reactions to the first season, fans and critics alike, think that it will be renewed.
"Stranger Things" is a science fiction-horror web television series created by the Duffer Brothers. The series follows the disappearance of a young boy and a telekinetic girl who helps his friends in finding him. The first season had eight episodes.
