"Stranger Things" will definitely see another season as implied by Netflix chief executive. The new sci-fi series was a sure hit according to critics and viewers.

Before confirming outright that "Stranger Things" Season 2 will definitely happen, Netflix executive chief Reed Hastings said that they would be dumb not to arrange for a second season. The 80's supernatural thriller was a hit in the summer, The Guardian reported.

While the writers haven't penned "Stranger Things" Season 2 yet, they promised that they're planning on a darker plot after the eight-part season. "Stranger Things" follows the story of a group of children in the search for their missing friend. In the process, they encountered controversial government activities and mysterious creatures.

The critics were captivated with the spooky storyline, the performance of the children alongside Winona Ryder and the nostalgic 80's soundtrack, the website noted. Although Netflix hasn't released the viewing figures, the chief executive pointed out the scores provided by IMBD.

"You can get approximations ... if you look on IMDB the most popular TV show right now it's Stranger Things, so that's a reasonable proxy," Hastings said in an interview with the news site. "It's not that there's no data, just that we don't give out our data."

Before "Stranger Things" became a success, the series were rejected several times before Netflix picked it up, Telegraph reported. While it's hard to imagine that "Stranger Things" failed, it was confirmed by the website that it was indeed rejected 15 to 20 times by other networks.

According to the feedback of other networks, they hated the concept of the youngsters leading the show as it was not primarily made for children. However, Netflix feels those kids actually made "Stranger Things" such a huge hit. The kids' performance even upstaged the performance of Winona Ryder.
