The next installment in the "WWE 2K" professional wrestling video game series will be released in two months time, and publisher 2K Sports has given out some details for fans. One thing that gamers can look forward to is that "WWE 2K17" will have more than 150 playable wrestling superstars.

In the WWE 2K website, WWE 2K executive producer Mark Little wrote that "2K17" shifts from arcade-like to simulation-based gameplay, and players will be able to have better control of the action. The post says responsiveness has been improved and game systems like Taunts and Ladders have been updated. There will also be playable areas in the crowd and backstage locations, a returning feature that many have requested the developers to bring back.

As for the Creation Suite, there are now more options for gamers who want to customize their own characters and arenas. Gamers can also record the highlights of their matches and then use the Create a Video feature. It seems, however, that "WWE 2K17" won't have a 2K Showcase mode; instead, the developers' efforts were placed in improving the WWE Universe and MyCareer Modes.

Meanwhile, fans can expect to see more than 150 characters in the upcoming game.

"The 150 number was part of early development coding on our interactive map and is not representative of the final roster list," wrote the game's social media and community manager Bryan Vore, also known as senior member Vore 2K in the 2K Forums. "However, we can ensure the WWE 2K17 roster will be the largest to date and encourage you to continue checking out official roster reveals each week - as part of the Suplex City Census - on IGN."

Vore was speaking about IGN's articles that reveal fresh details as well as the names of wrestlers who will be part of the upcoming game. The list published on Aug. 2 includes Andre the Giant, Bret Hart, Randy Orton, The Rock, Triple H, among many others, and those previously announced include John Cena, Shane McMahon, Ultimate Warrior, Sasha Banks, just to name a few.  Brock Lesnar will be the cover star for the new game.

IGN will give the next update on Aug. 16. "WWE 2K17" will be released on Oct. 11.
