The movies that opened on Friday include the R-rated animated film "Sausage Party," the remake of the fantasy film "Pete's Dragon," and the real-life based "Florence Foster Jenkins."  Did "Suicide Squad," now on its second weekend, manage to stay at No. 1?

According to Box Office Mojo, "Pete's Dragon" starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, and Oakes Fegley managed to pull in an estimate of $6.95 million in the domestic box office on Aug. 12, on its opening day.  The Hollywood Reporter says that this is much lower than projected, as the expectations for the weekend is around $21 million to $22 million.

The film is about a forest ranger who is trying to find the truth behind a boy who has been living in the forest for six years while some bad guys try to capture the dragon he befriended.

"Florence Foster Jenkins," meanwhile, raked in a little over $2 million on Friday, according to the Box Office Mojo estimates, as the target audience is mostly adults. The projected weekend earnings for this film, starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant, is somewhere between $6 million and $7 million.

The film is about an heiress who dreams of becoming an opera singer. However, she has a woeful singing voice.

As for "Sausage Party," the estimated earnings last Friday was $13.5 million, according to Box Office Mojo.  It has been projected to earn from $31 million to $33 million over the weekend.  It features the voice talents of Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Edward Norton, Salma Hayek, Paul Rudd, among others.

The film is about food in a grocery who dream of being chosen by shoppers. When a sausage discovers what happens to food when a human brings them home, he tries his best to warn his friends.

"Suicide Squad," on the other hand, managed to gain $13.35 million on Aug. 2, for a total of almost $384 million worldwide since its opening on Aug. 5, according to the numbers on Box Office Mojo. It stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevigne, and Viola Davis, among others.

The count for weekend box office earnings is not yet over, and any of these films can still pull up these numbers.
