Specifications for the soon to be released HTC Sailfish have been leaked online. As a result, tech insiders are claiming that these specifications may match the prowess of Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 and Galaxy 7.

A new AnTuTu Benchmark for HTC Sailfish appeared on Steve Hemmerstoffer's Twitter account on Aug. 9. The image revealed that the much anticipated smartphone would run on Android Nougat Manufacturer Release (NMR1) and have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. It also boasts 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

HTC Sailfish is said to have a 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. Hemmerstoffer acquired a screenshot of the AnTuTu Benchmark from a Weibo post.

These specifications are also echoed in a Geekbench listing, which was posted on TechDroider. In a Geekbench test conducted on Aug.10, HTC Sailfish obtained a score of 2158 in single-core tests and 5355 in multi-core tests.

Based on these leaked specifications from AnTuTu and Geekbench, BGR concluded that HTC Sailfish may equal the features currently seen on Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 and Galaxy 7. Nonetheless, the former may be at a slight advantage since it will run on a much faster operating system - the Android 7.0 right off the bat.

Fans and users of the Galaxy Note 7, however, shouldn't be too upset on the findings since Samsung's latest flagship gadgets feature an ultra-fast UFS storage - a spec which may or may not be available in the new Nexus phones.

HTC Sailfish is one-half of the newest batch of Nexus smartphones, as previous reports have already revealed the specifications of HTC Marlin. Marlin, unlike Sailfish, is a much larger phablet and it would contain almost identical chip and software features as the latter. It is hinted in many reports that HTC Marlin and HTC Sailfish may be introduced to the public on Oct. 4.
