It's up to Sony to agree in having cross platform support for multiplayer gameplay between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Bandai Namco's "Tekken 7." This was hinted by game designer for "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" Michael Murray via Twitter.

Responding to a Twitter fan's question regarding cross platform gameplay between the two consoles, Murray hinted that the decision is up to Sony.

The possibility of "Tekken 7's" cross platform gameplay between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 was first reported in June, wherein the game director Katsuhiro Harada posted the idea on Reddit.

According to Yibada, Harada said that the main concern in making cross platform multiplayer possible is the cooperation of Sony and Microsoft, two of the main players in the console market with their PS4 and Xbox One offerings. Microsoft expressed support for the idea, even stating that the Xbox One is ready for such prospect, while Sony made no response.

Harada also expressed concerns in "Tekken 7's" cross platform arrangement for PC version. While cross play is definitely possible in PC games, this also presents the problem of cheaters hacking into the game and degrading the game experience of players in all platforms. He ultimately left it up to the gaming community to decide on whether cross play between all three systems is within their best interests.

While cross play remains to be discussed, there are plenty of other features that players can look forward to with the new "Tekken" game that includes interactive cutscenes in the same vein as "Mortal Kombat X" as well as dynamic weather and environments.

SegmentNext also revealed that the game will present a new feature called "Power Crush."
