In June, Sony announced that its flagship PlayStation VR platform will be released in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia on Oct. 13. Last Thursday, Sony confirmed that it is also rolling out the PlayStation VR on the same day in Asia.
Sony will release the PlayStation VR on Oct. 13 in Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. According to CNet, the PlayStation VR will retail in Singapore for SG$599, which is roughly $445. This means that the Asian versions of the virtual reality headset will be around 10 percent pricier than its US counterparts.
In the UK, the PlayStation VR will retail for £349, and AU$550 in Australia. The package will not include the motion tracking Move controllers and the PlayStation Camera, two of the fundamental requirements for a proper virtual reality experience.
Sony also confirmed that 60 games will be available for the PlayStation VR, although the company did not provide a specific timeline as to when these games will be released. Prior to the recent announcement, Sony said that 50 virtual reality games will be rolled out along with the official launch of the headset.
Regarding video game titles, Sony confirmed that 13 virtual reality games are currently under development in Asia. According to Dual Shockers, the following games are being developed in Asia: "Stifled," "O! My Genesis VR," "The Occasional Encounter," "Unearthing Mars," "Mortal Blitz VR," "The School: Swan Song," "Ace Banana," "Mixip," "Kill X VR," "Weeping Doll," "Pixel Gear," "Dying Reborn," and "Phantom Word."
China, which is posing to be the biggest market, will also receive the game on the same day as its Asian neighbors. This news was confirmed at ChinaJoy, the company's biggest gaming convention. On the other hand, China will only receive 20 virtual reality games. Many tech analysts cited China's strict regulation towards international contents being pushed into the Chinese market as one of the biggest reason behind this.
