"Captain Marvel" confirmed to cast Brie Larson as the female superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Larson's character is huge, as "Captain Marvel" will be the first female superhero in Marvel's current line of solo superhero movies.

It was Marvel Studios' President Kevin Feige who announced the "Captain Marvel" news during the San Diego Comic-Con. Because the Marvel superhero has been through many iterations, Feige made sure to specify that Larson will be playing as the original version of the "Captain Marvel" and surprised the guest as the actress was called to join the panel.

"Captain Marvel" movie will follow the story of Carol Denvers who has become one of Marvel's flagship characters. Feige confirmed that the superhero's origin is earthbound, but her adventures and power come from the cosmic realm, PopSugar reported.

"Captain Marvel's" alter-ego Danvers has been part of the Avengers as Ms. Marvel for quite some time. The game-changing moment of the hero's life started in 2012 when writer Kelly Sue DeConnick and artist Dexter Soy's run gave Danvers a new uniform, leaned into her pilot background, and gave her the title "Captain Marvel."

The "Captain Marvel" movie is still in its pre-production stage, but the script is already  being polished, Hollywood Reporter reported. The script will be a collaboration of screenwriters Meg LeFauve of "Inside Out" and Nicole Perlman of "Guardians of the Galaxy."

The "Captain Marvel" lead star Larson announced the news on her official Twitter account by posting a photo of herself wearing a black Marvel Studios cap that captions "Call me Captain Marvel." The actress has recently won an Oscar for her unforgettable performance in the movie, "Room." Before her solo Marvel superhero movie hits the big screen, she will first be starring in the upcoming movie" Kong: Skull Island."

"Captain Marvel" is scheduled to be released in March 8, 2019. Watch the unofficial trailer here.
