After airing its series finale, NBC officially cancelled "Heroes Reborn" and stated that there will be no more future installments of the show. However, creator Tim Kring is not giving up, and still has plans to produce a brand new story tied to "Heroes" in the future.

Earlier this year, it has been announced that "Heroes Reborn" is not getting a second season, TV Line reported. NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said that having "Heroes Reborn" run for a 13-episode mini-series event has always been their plan, but he also said that should Kring says that there is another chapter to tell, the network is not shutting their doors for "Heroes Reborn" Season 2.

Although the network did not comment about "Heroes Reborn's" soft performance in ratings, it is palpable that "Heroes Reborn" did not surpass the network's expectations - as the number of viewers declined week after week on its Thursday 8PM time slot.

"Heroes Reborn," which explored on normal human beings and their journey after discovering that they are gifted with extra-ordinary abilities, has been one of the highly-anticipated project from the network last year; however, critics have mixed feelings about how the continuation of the saga was told.

It is quite clear that fans also did not resonate too much on "Heroes Reborn's" new storylines and characters; hence, the viewership pretty declined from 6.1 million during its debut slipping to 3.7 million in the series finale.

Kring, however, feels that there is still much more story to tell, despite "Heroes Reborn" 2's cancellation, telling TV Insider that he still has plans on revisiting the "Heroes" franchise.

"If there was going to be more story, it would not be part of Heroes Reborn, but rather some future volume with a brand new story," Kring explained.
