Indian actor Tusshar Kapoor has become Bollywood's first single dad. Kapoor on Monday announced the arrival of his baby boy saying that he is thrilled beyond words.

The baby boy, Laksshya, was born last week through IVF technique and surrogacy. The identity of the surrogate mother has not been revealed.

"I am thrilled to be a father! The paternal instincts in me have been overpowering my heart and mind for some time now. Therefore, I am thrilled beyond words to have Laksshya, now the greatest source of joy in my life," the Mastizaade actor said in a statement shared on his Instagram account.

"By the greatness of God and the excellent medical team at Jaslok [Hospital], parenthood is an option for many who choose to be single parents."

Tusshar's parents - veteran actor Jeetendra and his mother Shobha - are excited to be grandparents to Laksshya. In a statement, the couple also said they support Tusshar's decision.

The 39-year-old actor will be next seen in Kabir Kaushik's Chicago Junction. Kapoor will play a ruthless gangster avatar for the first time in the movie. He was last seen in sex comedies Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3 opposite Bigg Boss 9 contestant Mandana Karimi, and Mastizaade opposite pornstar turn Bollywood actress Sunny Leone.

Kapoor has worked in all genres - from comedy to hard hitting-dramas - in his 15-year Bollywood career. He also appeared in hit comedies like Kya Kool Hai Hum, Golmaal, Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3. His work in movies like Shootout At Wadala and Shor In The City have been applauded by critics. He is also co-owner of his sister Ekta Kapoor's Bajaji Motion Pictures.
