Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone reportedly declined to perform the Pinga song with Priyanka Chopra at an award.

The 29-year-old actress, who was approached to do a dance performance with Priyanka at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) 2016 award ceremony in Madrid, Spain, reportedly refused to share the stage with her Bajirao Mastani co-star.

"The organisers had approached Priyanka and Deepika for a joint performance, and the former was enthused by the proposal. However, Deepika refused to perform alongside her contemporary for reasons best known to her," a source said.

Deepika and Priyanka recently worked together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic romance drama Bajirao Mastani. They surprised everyone with their dance chemistry in the Pinga song in the movie.

"Though the two actors hugged each other, they have been maintaining distance from each other, and the issue seems to be rising out of insecurity. Priyanka is a known name in Spain, courtesy, her second season of Quantico released there, whereas Deepika is still making her mark in Hollywood. So she was a little concerned that Priyanka might hog the limelight and hence refused to dance with her," another source said.

Priyanka Chopra is currently busy shooting the second season of the U.S. television series Quantico. She will next be seen in Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson's Baywatch movie. Deepika Padukone will also make her Hollywood debute with xXx - Return of Xander Cage opposite action star Vin Diesel soon.

"There have also been whispers of the pay disparity between both the actresses and one hears, Priyanka is raking in more moolah than Deepika, which is also one of the reasons for the latter's denial," the source added.
