While we wait for the upcoming sequel to the widely acclaimed "Pacific Rim" called "Uprising," we get more developments (and a picture) of "Stars Wars: The Force Awakens" actor John Boyega for his character in movie.

According to IGN, Boyega (who played Finn in one of the latest "Star Wars" films directed by J.J. Abrams) had posted a picture in Twitter, which featured posing a new haircut and sporting an outfit fitting for Jake Pentecost, the son of the late Stacker Pentecost (played by Idris Elba from the first "Pacific Rim" movie.) The image also showed Boyega's character sitting in a huge metal room with a circular metal door, which some could assume that it could be the insides of a Jaeger, the colossal mechanical robot that can be piloted to fight off the monstrous Kaijus.

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (who also directed the first film) was actually the one who cast Boyega to fit the role of Stacker Pentecost's son, saying that he couldn't "think of a better man for the job."

"I am very proud and happy to welcome John into a fantastic sandbox," del Toro mentioned to Variety in an earlier report. "The Pacific Rim universe will be reinforced with him as a leading man as it continues to be a multicultural, multilayered world."

Del Toro will be stepping down as director for the "Pacific Rim: Uprising" taking the mantle of producer instead. Taking his place in helming the project is "Daredevil" Season 1 showrunner Steven DeKnight. Boyega has also reportedly signed on as a producer for the sequel as well.

The film reportedly commenced shooting last November but was production on "Pacific Rim: uprising" was delayed-and then, eventually, was put on hold. However, despite rumors circulating that the film will be cancelled, it eventually got back on track.

"Pacific Rim: Uprising" hits theaters Feb. 23, 2018
