Karen Gillan expressed her interest to reprise her character in "Doctor Who" in a recent interview. The "Guardians of the Galaxy" actress admitted that she would be open to appearing in the show.
Gillan said that she would jump right in for the opportunity to reprise Amy Pond in "Doctor Who" when needed. She said that she would be "back there in a shot."
However, the actress likewise admitted that she is much more interested in seeing the future of the BBC series. She wants to see Pearl Mackie take over as the doctor's companion Bill.
"I think I'm more excited about seeing Pearl take over as companion, because she was amazing," Gillan told The Wrap.
According to Comicbook, Gillan debuted Amy Pond in the premiere episode of "Doctor Who" Season 5. She portrayed the character until midway through Season 7. She also reprised her role for a cameo appearance in the 2016 Christmas special called "The Time of the Doctor."
In the meantime, there has been no word from the series and the studios whether they plan to bring Amy Pond back to "Doctor Who." If they do, then at least they know now that Gillan is not opposed to the idea.
Meanwhile, outside of her return in "Doctor Who," Gillan also talked about her role in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." She revealed how her character, Nebula, has changed since the events in the first film.
Gillan said that fans will see the emotional side of Nebula in the sequel. Viewers might actually show her some sympathy, once they learn about her past. The actress revealed that the sequel will reveal jus how much pain Nebula's father Thanos actually caused her. Likewise, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will delve deeper into Nebula's relationship with her sister Gamora (Zoe Saldana).
