The 1980s South Korean comics titled "Goodbye, Mr. Black" is set to have its TV series adaptation of the same name. Set to premiere on MBC in March, the upcoming series will star "The Beauty Inside" actor Lee Jin-wook as a Navy SEAL named Cha Ji-won.

On Jan. 27, the cast and crew of "Goodbye, Mr. Black" had their first script reading for "Goodbye, Mr. Black." Lee delivered his lines so well during the script reading that he earned praise from the production staff, All Kpop has learned.

The story of the "Goodbye, Mr. Black" comics itself is not an original concept. It was inspired by the 1844 novel "The Count of Monte Cristo" by French author Alexandre Dumas.

While it is based on the 1980s South Korean comics, the "Goodbye, Mr. Black" drama series will be set in modern-day South Korea. Some of the scenes are likely to be filmed in Australia and in England.

In the "Goodbye, Mr. Black" drama series, the Navy SEAL played by Lee is brutally betrayed by his friend and was exiled to Australia after being accused of treason. After his life was ruined, the character seeks revenge by acquiring a new identity and going back to England to also search for his lost love.

"Goodbye, Mr. Black" is the 16th drama series that Lee starred in. In 2015, he played Choi Won in the SBS drama series "The Time We were Not in Love."

The November 2015 issue of the Elle Korea magazine featured Lee with photos taken in Paris.  During the photo shoot, the staff members were reportedly worried because of the bad weather but the actor told them not to worry because he would just have to get wet if it rained.

South Korean-American actor Daniel Henney will also join the cast of the upcoming MBC drama series "Goodbye, Mr. Black" playing the role of Kim Ji-ryun. He is best known for voicing Tadashi Hamada in the 2014 animated film "Big Hero 6."

With Lee and Henney, the "Goodbye, Mr. Black" cast also includes Moon Chae-won as Swan, Song Jae-rim as Seo Woo-jin and Kim Kang-woo as Park Eun-chan. Watch a video featuring Lee here:
