South Korean TV series "Cheese in the Trap" is gaining strong following not only in its home country but also in China. Recently, the tvN drama series based on the webtoon of the same name ranked number one in Weibo's Korean-Japanese TV drama chart for January 2016.

"Cheese in the Trap" is about a poor university student Hong Seol (Kim Go-eun), who does part-time jobs, and her senior Yoo Jung (Park Hae-jin). The TV series is so popular in China that Chinese online shopping sites are already selling costumes similar to those Park wears in the show, Korea Times has learned.

Park starred in several South Korean drama series before "Cheese in the Trap." He made his debut on the small screen in 2006 when he played Yeon Ha-nam in "Famous Chil Princesses."

In 2011 and 2012, Park starred in the Hunan TV series "Another Kind of Splendid Life" and "My Daughter Seo-young." In 2013, he played Lee Hwi-kyung in the SBS romantic fantasy series "My Love from the Star" opposite Kim Soo-hyun as Do Min-joon and Jun Ji-hyun as Cheon Song-yi.

With his stardom both in South Korea and in China, Park recently signed endorsements with 15 advertisers, including outdoor brand Centerpole, 7-Eleven and Beanpole. Also, the "Cheese in the Traps" actor renewed contracts with Lotte Duty Free, Mind Bridge and Kohler Novita bringing his total income as an endorser at approximately 11 billion won ($9.2 million), Korea Herald reported.

On the other hand, "Cheese in the Trap" is that first TV series, in which Go-eun starred in. She made her debut as an actress in 2012 in "A Muse," a film adaptation of the novel "Eun-gyo" by Park Bum-shin.

The first episode of "Cheese in the Trap" was aired on tvN on Jan. 4. Its eighth episode was aired on Jan. 26 to be followed by episode 9 on Feb. 1.

Joining Park and Kim in the main cast of "Cheese in the Trap" are Seo Kang-joon as Baek In-ho and Lee Sung-kyung as Baek In-ha. In the supporting cast are Hwang Seok-jeong, Lee Woo-dong, Kim Ki-bang, Go Hyeon, Moon Ji-yoon, Ji Yoon-ho, Kim Hee-chan, Nam Joo-hyuk and Park Min-ji.
