With Fox's "Alien: Covenant" heading to theaters this summer, we've got a little something that will get us pumping for the sci-fi horror: A VR experience to plunge players into the terrifying world of the movie.

According to Variety, it was director Ridley Scott himself who actually came up with the idea to partner up with the Fox Innovation Lab to develop the "Alien: Covenant Virtual Reality Experience" to be released for all "major VR platforms" as a paid title. However, there hasn't any mention of a release date yet.

In addition to that, Scott will be producing the virtual reality game himself, which is fitting since he's not only the director of the film but the creator of the entire franchise. It'll be exciting in seeing how the full experience will play out in the final release.

Assisting with the director is visual effects artist David Karlak, who will be responsible for creating look and feel of the VR game which is described to be a "dread-inducing journey into the depths of the 'Alien' universe."

For the gameplay, on the other hand, players would journey and "navigate through horrifying alien environments and a story where every decision could mean the difference between life and death."

This is actually the second VR title that 20th Century Fox has come up with based on the works of Ridley Scott; the first of which was "The Martian Virtual reality Experience" last year, according to IGN.

This is also not the first time virtual reality was incorporated with the "Alien" theme. Back in 2014, the stealth horror game "Alien Isolation" had a VR demo, showing the experience of true horror and survival. However, the VR experience never left its prototype stages and never had the chance to reach shelves.

What makes the sets "Alien: Covenant Virtual Reality Experience" apart from the 2014 stealth horror game is that it's being developed in tandem with the Hollywood release promoting both the VR technology and the film itself. Fox has been known to utilize the virtual reality experience in the recent months to promote their films by enhancing their audience's hype and excitement. Other than "The Martian," the studio is also developing the VR experience based on the "Assassin's Creed" film.

"Alien: Covenant" is scheduled to arrive on May 19.
