"Hamilton" star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is on board to serve as a creative producer of the Lionsgate's film and TV series adaptation of "The Kingkiller Chronicle." He will also be the musical mastermind alongside author Pat Rothfuss.

According to Variety, Miranda has an option to be involved in future stage productions of "The Kingkiller Chronicle" as well. He is also expected to compose the original music and write the songs. Rothfuss will executive produce for both film and television.

"The Kingkiller Chronicle" focuses on Kvothe, the son of Arliden. Kvothe is a magically gifted young man and famous musician who grows to be the most notorious wizard his world has ever seen, The Hollywood Reporter reported.

"The Kingkiller Chronicle" will be based on the first book of the series entitled "The Name of the Wind." The script is being penned by "Transformers 5" screenwriter Lindsey Beer.

"The Kingkiller Chronicle" series of books and novellas has sold 10 million copies. The first two books entitled "The Name of the Wind" and "The Wise Man's Fear" became the New York Times bestsellers.

Miranda said that the "Kingkiller" books are among the most read and re-read books in their home. The Tony award winner also added that Rothfuss writes about the act of making music more beautifully than any novelist.

Lionsgate said that Miranda and Rothfuss will be intimately involved in the development of the new characters and storylines explored in "The Kingkiller Chronicle." The co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group Erik Feig said that Miranda is an incomparable talent and a huge fan of the trilogy. He believed that the creative oversight of Miranda to the franchise will bring an incredible level of detail and continuity to all of the projects.

Lionsgate has a multipronged plan on adapting the epic fantasy book "Kingkiller" by simultaneously developing movies and a premium quality drama series. The drama series will expand on the world outside of the books.

No release date has been set yet for either "The Kingkiller Chronicle" movie or TV series.
