After winning the legal battle against J.ESTINA that reportedly used Song Hye Kyo's photos for promotions without permission, the "Descendants of the Sun" actress has decided to donate the compensation to Beautiful Foundation.

According to Allkpop, Song Hye Kyo handed 150,000,000 KRW to Beautiful Foundation, a group that carries out "research, surveys, and educational programs to aid the burgeoning philanthropic culture to take root in Korean society."

A staff from Beautiful Foundation said the "Descendants of the Sun" actress wanted to donate the money to help less fortunate design students.

Song Hye Kyo's case against J. ESTINA started in April when the jewelry company failed to follow the terms of their agreement. Reports claimed the brand and "Descendants of the Sun" agreed that J.ESTINA can use certain photos and videos from the popular drama.

However, it was found out that the jewelry company illegally used photos and videos of Song Hye Kyo outside of "Descendants of the Sun," which is not covered by the agreement.

The amount of damages was set by the Seoul Central Court which was agreed upon by both parties.

This is not the first time Song Hye Kyo showed her kindness by sharing what she has. Just this month, the actress donated 10,000 guidebooks to a memory hall in China, The Chosunilbo noted.

The actress was joined by a professor at Sungshin Women's University named Seo Kyoung Duk for the good cause. "Song [Hye Kyo] and I offered 10,000 guides written in Korean and Chinese on Dec. 19 to mark the day Yun [Bong Gil] (1908-1932) died," the professor said.

Reports stated the guidebooks contain information about Yun Bong Gil's memory hall in Shanghai as well as the biography of the late independent warrior.

"Many Korean historical sites overseas still don't have guidebooks written in Korean. I hope they can help draw visitors," Song Hye Kyo added.
