KBS gifted its viewers this year with one of the most spectacular and breathtaking drama series of the year and of all time: "Descendants of the Sun." The Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki starrer debuted with strong viewership in South Korea and many parts of Asia. Now, it's about to take Greece by storm.

The Korean Embassy in Greece announced that non-state Greek TV channel TV100 has begun airing "Descendants of the Sun" starting Dec. 7. Soompi reported that the series will be spread across 19 weeks of broadcast. In addition to the original 16 episodes, TV100 will air 3 special episodes that will feature interviews with the cast and crew and behind-the-scenes footage from filming.

The interesting thing about "Descendants of the Sun" making its debut on Greek television is that fact that many of the scenes in the drama series were shot in several locations in Greece such as Zakynthos and Arachova. The beautiful shipwreck where Captain Yoo Shi Jin and Doctor Kang Mo Yeon had their dates was shot in Navagio beach in Zakynthos, Greece.

With the broadcast of "Descendants of the Sun" in Greece, Ambassador Ahn Young Jip hopes that it can help deepen the cultural exchange between Greece and South Korea.

When "Descendants of the Sun" premiered in South Korea in February this year, the military-themed drama series scored a 14.3 percent viewership, the highest in the country in the last two years, China Daily reported. In China, the first episode of Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki's romantic drama recorded over 30 million views. The drama series was received positively in many other regions where it aired.

TV100 is an avid supporter of Korean drama, having previously aired hit series such as "Jewel in the Palace" and "I Miss You" in 2013. Due to the popularity of these shows, TV100 has since been working with several broadcasting companies in South Korea like EBS and MBC to co-produce documentaries.
