Lionsgate confirmed that they are no longer releasing "Divergent Ascendant" as the last installment of the movie series. However, they decided to switch it to a TV series. This report has made quite a buzz on the Internet on December 19.

Apparently, the movie series itself has not been bringing enough profit for the studio to move on and make new ones. This is why producers of the movie decided to just put an end to it after the last installment according to Movie News Guide. Based on the review made by critics, the performance of the main actors, Shailene Woodley and Theo James may have had something to do with it, as they were seen not at their best in the last installments compared to when it first came out.

Now that "Ascendant" is about to be a TV series, the two didn't show any interest in being a part of it. Woodley was honest about not wanting to continue with her character from the movie and have it on the small screen. James, on the other hand, was just silent about it but was grateful for the support he is getting from fans. In an interview with Too Fab, he didn't say much about him not wanting to be part of it but he did say that the story is just going for something that actors from the previous sequels won't be needed anymore.

Meanwhile, Veronica Roth, author of the Divergent book series, recently told the press that she is about to release an epilogue entitled, "We Can Be Mended", as an end to the series. It would tell the story of what happens after Tri died, which is five years after Allegiant's ending. The book is only available for those who will pre-order Roth's latest release, "Carve the Mark".
