"Supernatural" executive producer Andrew Dabb has revealed that there are three Castiel-heavy episodes coming in Season 12.
Speaking with TV Line, the showrunner revealed that episodes 10, 11 and 19 of the supernatural drama hold some storylines that will make Castiel fans very happy. Previewing the first one, which airs on Feb. 2, Dabb teased that this chapter will present "a lost chapter of Castiel's history."
"Cas was part of the battalion that was watching Earth," the showrunner noted.
"He was the guy that harrowed Hell to rescue Dean Winchester. We established that, and now we're taking a little twist on it and telling a lost story from his past that involves [guest star] Alicia Witt."
Dabb continued on to tease that the following 10th and 19th episodes are also "extremely Cas-heavy in an even different way."
As to what fans can expect in the remaining episodes, the EP admits that they had to cram a lot plotting them. Because they were concerned of certain characters (specifically Castiel and Crowley) who are getting a bit short shrift as they were introducing the new characters.
But Dabb promised that this flow of storytelling will change in the second half of "Supernatural" Season 12.
"We have a lot more room to play," Dabb said.
"Those characters are going to come to the fore a lot more."
When viewers last tuned in on "Supernatural," Lucifer targeted the President of the United States as his latest vessel which led to Sam and Dean finding themselves in jail after getting arrested by the Secret Service.
There's no word yet as to how the Winchester brothers will get out of this prison ordeal. But the storyline definitely sets up a lot of potential drama when the series returns in January.

Season 12 resumes on Thursday, Jan. 27th on a new 8PM timeslot after the series premiere of Riverdale.
