Banana Culture Entertainment revealed that EXID member Solji was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and will take a break from activities to seek treatment. Following the announcement, Solji wrote a message to her fans on Instagram to update them on her condition.

"You were really worried, right?  I'm going to take medication and get better quickly, so do not worry too much.  Everyone seems so shocked that I feel sorry for troubling you," Solji wrote on her Instagram, as translated by allkpop. The singer added that she feels bad that she couldn't join the other members on stage but hopes that fans will continue to support EXID. She closed her message by saying she will try to get better as quickly as possible. And that she apologizes for having worried fans.

On Dec. 20, Banana Culture Entertainment released a statement regarding Solji's condition. After undergoing a checkup, her doctor found out that she has been suffering from multiple symptoms of hyperthyroidism such as fever and exophthalmos or protrusion of the eyes, Koreaboo reported.

Solji's health is of the utmost priority to the agency, and thus allowed the singer take a hiatus from EXID's activities so that she can focus on her treatment and recovery. From here on, EXID will promote with four members: LE, Hani, Junghwa and Hyelin. The group is scheduled to participate in upcoming year-end awards and festivities.

Hyperthyroidism is a disease caused by excessive production of T3 and T4 hormones in one's thyroids. It is likelier to develop in women than in men. Among the effects of hyperthyroidism is weight loss, fatigue and fever. It is easily treated. However, without treatment it could lead to serious heart problems and a fatal condition called Hyperthyroid Crisis.

Solji is one of the main vocalists. She debuted with female group EXID in 2012.
