Samsung has revealed to Sundance Film Festival guests that it intends to open a New York City studio that will start giving virtual reality experiences.
The Tech giant Samsung Electronics America Inc, which is also the official sponsor of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, fascinated the crowd that attended this year's celebration by the news, with guests taking the opportunity of practically trying out the company's VR headset.
At Park, Utah City, the company incited the guests that it was going to set up a VR studio that will advance delivery of VR content to Gear VR headset users. It, however, did not mention anything else regarding the project, apart from the fact that it will be located at one of the Samsung offices, Droid Report reported.
Up to now, Sundance Film Festival has remained famous for bringing the most creative storytellers, together with equally exciting audiences for its yearly program of dramatic, documentary films, installations, shorts, panel discussions, performances, dynamic music events and new frontier films.
Film enthusiasts and keen observers who are always ready to explore advancements in technology, in complementation of film experiences, have given Samsung assurance to see more users of the gear after it gets available in the market.
Even for better enhancement of the project, Samsung will partner with the Sundance Institute, which the company prospects will make its effort available to moviemakers and other creators, Engadget reported. The statement, as given in the festival, indicated that it could be a one-year partnership. Therefore, the two partners anticipate that the VR may play a big role in the upcoming festival - something that could attract next Festival's attendees.
The festival has been a smorgasbord of virtual reality projects that deal with various subjects. For instance, the controversial shift of perspectives in a date rape scenario as well as soothing drift through the sky of San Francisco like a bird. There is also a sci-fi film from Oculus VR's movie studio that puts the subject in a dense forest with a gigantic robot.
It is not only in gaming where VR is expected to bring a change but also in new films and experiences. As the VR headset grows, Samsung wants to speed the process and currently, exploration is its main tool.
