In a press conference for upcoming drama "Goblin," Scriptwriter Kim Eun Sook, who is known for her works "Descendants Of The Sun," "Secret Garden" and "Lovers In Paris," revealed she has offered Gong Yoo several projects in which the actor rejected.

In a report of Allkpop, Kim revealed she was hesitant to ask the actor to play for "Goblin," thinking that Gong Yoo might turn down the offer. "I've been rejected by Gong Yoo for 5 years," the scriptwriter said.

She went on, "He politely rejected. I was cautious about making the offer for this drama, and I thought that I'll have to wait long but he gave me a fast response. He told me that he'll do the role if I'm okay with a goblin who's timid and fearful."

To explain his side, Gong Yoo said he was then afraid of doing drama series, admitting that it was a personal problem. The actor added he wanted to meet with Kim to express his gratitude for always considering him in her projects.

"When we met, we talked, and I heard about the drama. I was able to open my heart after 2-3 hours of meeting," he said.

Gong Yoo will take the role of Kim Shin on "Goblin." His character will serve as the protector of the souls, who is fed up with immortal life, aiming to put an end to it.

Meanwhile, Yong Sung Jae admitted he was pressured to play as Gong Yoo's cousin on "Goblin," Soompi noted. However, the BTOB member said his co-actors made him feel comfortable while on the set.

"All the other four actors were acting so comfortably that it made the filming feel really natural," Yong talking about Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook, Kim Go Eun and Yoo In Na.

"Just [by] looking into their eyes makes me feel comfortable, so I think I'll be able to develop little by little," Yong added.

Gong Yoo's newest drama "Goblin" starts on Dec. 2 on tvN.
