SNK has released a new trailer showcasing the free major update 1.10 for PS4 exclusive "The King of Fighters XIV," featuring a side-by-side comparison of the game's graphics before and after said update.

According to Dualshockers, the update includes numerous substantial graphical improvements, 2 new color variations per character, and a lot more features. A new version of the demo called "the Moreover" will be released later in December to preview said features of the upcoming 1.10 update.

Another report by Shoryuken revealed that the demo was playable at the PlayStation Experience sometime last weekend also. The new features of update 1.10 were also shown via Twitter by Gatoray, particularly those of Sylvie and Xanadu:

The update showed the game's improved lighting system, most noticeably the improved self-shadows. Another thing worth noting is the way the graphics engine handles transparent materials as well.

"The King of Fighters XIV" was developed and published in Japan by SNK for the PlayStation 4 and released in August 2016. The game was published by Atlus USA and Deep Silver in North America and Europe, respectively. It was considered as the first in "The King of Fighters" game series to be fully rendered in 3D, in contrast to previous installments which used 2D raster imagery. However, it's the third game in the entire series, spin-offs included, to be a 3D fighting game with with "The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact" and its sequel being the first two.

"The King of Fighters XIV" has been critically-acclaimed, with its appeal of its fighting system to both newcomers and veterans of the fighting game genre. The game, however, has also been criticized for its outdated 3D gaming models, which may be the reason why SNK is planning to release an update that would drastically improve its visuals.

"The King of Fighters XIV" is slated to be in arcades in Japan sometime on February 2017.
