‘Halo Wars’ news update: Second installment trailer introduces new villain Atriox; Halo Wars 1 Remaster to be launched this month

The much anticipated "Halo Wars 2" has released a promotional clip introducing new villain named Atriox.

It has also been announced that buyers of "Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition" will be able to access "Halo Wars 1" Definitive Edition earlier than others at December 20. 343 Industries alongside Microsoft Studios made the announcement at The Game Awards 2016, GameSpot reported. Meanwhile, "Halo Wars 2" will not be released until next year but the beta version of the game is set to be released before its official launching.

"Halo Wars 2" introduces a new villain named Atriox. Atriox is described as a Brute who was a slave under the Covenant, Polygon reported. Atriox was able to inspire others who were also being enslaved by the Covenant. After successfully escaping the grasp of the Covenant, they formed a group of mercenaries who call themselves Banished as they continue their rebellion.

Eventually Banished intensified their presence, thus, increasing threat. It is up to the United Nation Space Command (UNSC) to stop Atriox's army to acquire a powerful weapon that may wreak havoc to the entire galaxy.

Meanwhile, the "Halo Wars: The Definitive Edition" will be a faithful recreation of the 2009 original albeit with improved graphics, audio with the inclusion of new achievements. There had also been reports about possible simplified gameplay to elevate the experience for gamers.

"Halo Wars 2" Ultimate Edition is tagged at $80 was supposed to be released this year but due to delays, the launch date had been moved to February 21, 2017 for Windows PC and Xbox One. Release for additional platforms is yet to be announced.

"Halo Wars 2" is launching exclusively on Xbox One and Windows 10 in fall 2016. We have nothing to share about additional platforms at this time," a representative for Microsoft said.
