‘Fantastic Beasts’ grosses $53.6 million in 3 day-international box-office haul; UK is top market

Pulling another $30 million on Friday, the J.K. Rowling penned "Harry Potter" spin-off, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" has now grossed a total of $53.6 million in just three days, with 16 more markets opening that day. By weekend, "Fantastic Beasts" is already airing in 63 international market or a total of 24,200 theaters. This early box-office results are just in line with expectations of the film.

According to Deadline, "Fantastic Beasts" finished its debut airing in the United Kingdom, home country of author J.K. Rowling and basically majority of the Potter lore, with $5.4 million. This allowed "Fantastic Beasts" to have the best opening earnings of all Harry Potter films, except for the last two installments. The box office results in the British aisles is also the biggest so far among the international markets as China and Japan are yet to open.

"Fantastic Beasts" had a $1.8 million debut in Mexico while it opened to an impressive $1.4 million in Spain where the film was only screened in just 612 cinemas. In fact, the opening in Spain has doubled that of Marvel's "Doctor Strange" film starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

The film directed by David Yates and produced by David Heyman has opened as the no. 1 film everywhere, including Korea where "Fantastic Beasts" saw daily bumps as to its earnings which now total $5.8 million. It is also rosy for Newt Scamander's big screen exploits in Germany where its second day doubled its debut now amounting to $3.9 million. France has already a $3.7 million tally so far while the Russian released already got a total of $3.3 million. . Other running accumulation include Australia with $3.1M; Brazil's $2.5M; and Italy bowing in with $1.9M.
