A remake of the 1991 Disney original film, "Beauty and The Beast", is going to be released next year, directed by Bill Condon. Although majority of the movie features are produced similarly to its animated forerunner, a few changes are said to be made for the enhancement of the film. The alterations include the lyrics of one of the most recognized songs, "Gaston".
The composer of the long-adored song, Alan Menken, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that some parts of the lyrics of Gaston, written by the late Howard Ashman for the 1991 animated version, were left unused. These words, thankfully, will be featured in the 2017 re-creation of the film. "We all felt ready to have these lyrics", said Menken, who described the omitted words as "risqué in terms of sensibility".
Luke Evans, who portrays the role of Gaston in the movie, added that for those who know the song very well, "you will hear a few new lines, which are really, really special." Gaston is the conceited hunter who appears to be a fanatical admirer of Belle, played by Emma Watson. More compliments will be attributed to his character in this film through the transcripts and recordings that were discovered, says Evans.
In addition to "Gaston"'s changes, according to Stitch Kingdom during Menken's new series kick off entitled "Artist to Artist" at Lincoln Center in New York City, the Disney musical icon revealed that new melodies will also be expected in the film, including "Forever More", "Our Song Lives On", and "Days In The Sun", all written by himself and lyricist, Tim Rice. "Our Song Lives On" is basically about precious moments and how these are lived forever, sung by Belle's father, Maurice (Kevin Kline) while assembling a music box.
The movie director also reveals furthermore that there is another unused Ashman lyric that will be incorporated in the film, saying that it shall be a surprise at the end. He expresses their delight in the discovery of the lyric.
Besides Watson, Evans and Kline, the prestigious cast of "Beauty and The Beast" also includes Dan Stevens as the Beast, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Josh Gad as Le Fou, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, and Audra McDonald as Garderobe.
The live-action version of this Disney masterpiece will hit the theaters on March 17, 2017.
