"Iron Man" director Jon Favreau has been taking the helm on remaking the classic Disney movies into the modern technology and live action cinematography. After getting a positive reception on "The Jungle Book," he has been set on doing a live remake on "Beauty and the Beast" starring Emma Watson. Now, it has been confirmed that the director is setting his eyes on another Disney classic: "The Lion King."

So, combining the state-of-the-art computer generated image technology with exceptional actors and real world settings, who's to say that a more modern "Lion King" won't be possible? Jon Favreau, previously signing on the project, has already begun pre-production on the movie, according to Polygon.

The director mentioned that he would want "The Lion King" remake to be released as soon as possible.

While a surprisingly good amount of people are for the remake of the classic Disney movie, it's not a surprise also that some are against "The Lion King" remake. Based on reports, Twitter indicated that there is a equal amount of people who are both looking forward to the movie and those who shun it.

When the original "Lion King" was released on 1994, it was a hit success grossing nearly $1 billion at the box office globally. The movie was so successful that it was adapted into a Broadway production in 1997. For 19 years, the Broadway production has been one of the most popular musicals ever. As for the film's awards, "The Lion King" won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Multiple Grammy Awards were also given to the film as well.
