Part-Filipino artist Bruno Mars recently announced that he would be releasing his next album this year. This is the performer's third studio album. He is also to perform at the Superbowl 50 halftime show.

Mars took to Twitter to make the announcement in Jan. 10, Sunday, where his tweet clearly hinted that he is working on a new album.

Mars is also planning for a worldwide tour by the end of 2017, Media Mass reported.

During Mars appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," he said that he would be taking a break after stringing a big success from the hit single "Uptown Funk." The song is a collaboration between Mars and singer Mark Ronson.

Meanwhile, Mars was offered the headliner spot for the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, Entertainment Weekly reported. The much-awaited NFL show will take place in Santa Clara, California. If the singer accepts the proposal, he would be the third artist to perform at the popular halftime show twice.

The Grammy Award winner performed at the Super Bowl XLVVIII halftime show back in 2014. The pop star performed together with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The 29-year old singer was the youngest ever half-time headliner at the Superbowl.

Before being surpassed by Katy Perry in 2015 at the same show, Mars' performance was the most-watched halftime show ever with an audience of 115.3 million viewers. The Super Bowl 50 will take place at the Levi Stadium on Feb. 7.

Due to his Superbowl performance that propelled his album sales and tour tickets, Mars debuted in 13th place on the Forbes 100 list in 2014 with estimated earnings of $60 million. In 2015, the singer dropped to the 53rd place with total earnings of $40 million.

The singer has produced several international hits including "Nothin' On You", "Just The Way You Are", "Grenade", "The Lazy Song", "When I Was Your Man", and "Treasure."

Mars began getting involved in music at a young age by performing at various musical venues. The singer's father is half Puerto Rican and half Jewish, while his mother emigrated from the Philippines to Hawaii when she was young. Her mother is of Filipino descent who died in 2013 due to a brain aneurysm.
