Google reportedly testing a Google PlayStore update with a cleaner user interface. Some users in India claim that it is now live in their region. However, the legitimacy of this news cannot be confirmed as the tech giant hasn't made an announcement about its details yet.

According to Greenbot, screenshots from users in India reveal that Google PlayStore has a layout overhaul. This may not be a drastic change, but it is noticeable that the green background has been darkened. Also, larger install button and lesser app details have been revealed. Another screenshot also showed that the app carousel gets a new layout too. Apps have been moved down below the search bar, while Entertainment category has been replacing as Movies, Music, Books.

As of the moment, the Google PlayStore update appears to be in the testing phase as small group has been apparently received the update. Prior to Google Pixel launch, rumors of the new UI have been making the rounds. Promotional video of the said smartphone first revealed the new PlayStore, and it closely matches the screenshots.

In addition to the new PlayStore user interface, Google added a net banking payment option to purchase buy apps, songs, movies, and games. With this recent payment method, it will bring convenience to some users as the use of credit and debit card is minimal in the region. Aside from net banking option, Vodafone and Airtel will also support carrier billing soon.

"We are continually looking at ways to enhance the user experience, including payment options available, on our Play store," a Google India spokesperson told Mashable.

Currently, there is no available apk to have the revamped look. It is being said that the Google PlayStore update is based on server side wherein Google controls its release by region. Global release is expected to roll out in the coming days.
