Samsung, Asia's largest consumer-electronics company, reported a record quarterly profit on surging sales of Galaxy phones and proceeds from selling its hard-disk drive business.

Samsung will release the Galaxy Tab A 10. 1 on 28th of October, but there's a catch. This time, the company will include the S Pen functionality into its latest tablet offering.

On the heels of Samsung's decision to shut down all production of the Note 7, the move to include the S Pen on the Tab A 10.1 is no longer a surprise. The specifications of the mid-priced tab is pretty average, which makes the addition of the stylus a good marketing strategy to make up for the staggering loss caused by the Note 7's combusting batteries.

According to CNET, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 comes with a full HD screen display with a resolution of 1,920x1,200 pixels. It is packed with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, with an expandable microSD port which can store up to 256GB. The device weighs 1.22 pounds, and runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0.

Similar to the company's previous line of tablets, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 comes in two colors: black and white. Its battery life, according to Samsung, can last for 13 hours of video playback. However, that is yet to be confirmed until the device becomes available.

As for pricing, interested buyers can purchase the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 in the US for $350, beginning on October 28.

Back in May, Samsung has announced the upcoming release of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 A, but the updated version did not include the S Pen. Initially, the company marketed the device as a "slim, lightweight and powerful" tablet perfect for "price-conscious users." But with the fallout of the Note 7, it seems that the company was forced to shift strategy with the inclusion of the S Pen.
