After FOX announced that it will bring back its hit drama "Prison Break" for a fifth season, creator Paul Scheuring revealed that the upcoming reboot would mark the drama's end. However, the show's star Wentworth Miller hinted that the show could have a longer future than initially reported.

The filming of the show's fifth season is already in the works and majority of the original cast members are returning for a nine-episode season. Miller will be back despite the fact that his character, Michael Schofield, has died just prior the show's season four finale.

"There's always room for more, in my mind," Miller told the press at the 2016 San Diego comic-con per report from Express. "As long as it's a story that's worth telling, as long as it feels justified and cool and edgy.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Miller revealed that the upcoming revival is scheduled to be released in 2017, and that future episodes would depend on how fans react to the new episodes. Simply put, the possible sixth season will all depend on the reboot's TV ratings and the FOX network is currently in a dire situation with most of its shows already lagging behind other networks in the coveted audience demographic.

"The reboot is nine new episodes airing in spring 2017, and then depending on how it's received, and who's available, there could be another conversation about another bite of the apple. We'll see...," said the actor who attended the 2016 Attitude Awards.

The actor then discussed some information about the show's upcoming season. He claimed that the fifth season of "Prison Break" will also have a huge time jump, as it is with that from its last season. Seven years has passed since the events in the last episode and a lot has changed in both the environment and the characters themselves.

Unlike in the previous seasons where Michael made the elaborate plan of getting his brother from prison, this new season will be all about reversal of role. His brother Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and wife Dr. Sara Tancredi (Sarah Wayne Callies) will team up to get him out of prison after learning that he is indeed alive. Aside from the three, other confirmed returning original cast members include Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, and Rockmond Dunbar who will be reprising their roles as Fernando Sucre, T-Bag Bagwell, and C-Note Franklin, respectively.
