Miami Heat head coach Eric Spoelstra clarifies that he has no intention to trade Goran Dragic to Sacramento Kings, citing the trade is just a rumor.
Spoelstra said Thursday to confirm that Goran Dragic is not part of the trade negotiation between Miami Heat and Sacramento Kings, Sun Sentinel reported. He denied the rumor and come to Dragic to tell the fact himself.
"Spo came over and did that today. He just said those rumors, they're not true," Dragic said. "I told him I understand this is the business. The only thing I can do is do what I do on the court."
Rumors about Dragic's trade breakout when Basketball Insiders reported that an executive from the Kings told its reporter about the team's intention to trade forward Rudy Gay. Sacramento Kings is looking to get a top level point guard and has initiated a negotiation with Miami Heat.
Naturally, people will assume that the Kings aim for Dragic, main point guard of Miami Heat. The 6'3" point guard is well-known to be able to play both point guard and shooting guard. Sacramento Kings that have defficiency in guard position will be very delighted to get Dragic, while Miami Heat will have a strong forward to fill-in the void after Chris Bosh departure.
Dragic is a member of Slovenian national basketball team and played in European League Basketball for five years before joined the NBA in 2008. He played with Phoenix Suns for three seasons and provide an excellent playmaking and scoring service for the Suns. In 2011, Suns traded him to Phoenix where he played for one season before coming back to Phoenix.
Earlier this year, Miami Heat signed him from the Suns in a five-year contracts worth $90. In the preseason games with the Heat, Dragic has shown his scoring and playmaking capability, averaging 12.8 points and 6.4 assists.
