The Walking Dead's new Big Bad, Negan, has been previewed to change the whole dynamic of the show on its forthcoming seventh season.

A few days before The Walking Dead premieres its Season 7, executive producer and comic book writer Robert Kirkman chatted with The Hollywood Reporter to hash out the show's buzzy cliffhangers, while also offering what to expect from the new season. Before Negan was introduced as this supervillain, The Walking Dead fans have already grown accustomed to the brutality and subsequent violence in the show. Moving forward, it is expected that Negan's reign over Rick and co. will only up the level of gruesome scenes inside the world of the zombie drama.

Kirkman, for his part, thinks that The Walking Dead Season 7 is a very dangerous season.

"We hit the ground running with the first episode and that really sets the tone for this," Kirkman told the publication.

"Negan is ever-present. This isn't the end of his story; this isn't any kind of singular event. This is the introduction of a new status quo in this world and it'll make the show more dangerous than it's ever been. And that's going to continue throughout the season."

In other developments, co-showrunner Greg Nicotero recently dropped an ominous hint that Rick might be close to embracing his comic book destiny on The Walking Dead Season 7. Rick's hand was cut off in the comics, but the arc has not yet been adapted in the TV version. However, it seems that that's about to change.

"Well... I would just say from a technical aspect it could be done," said Nicotero on the possibility.

Before dropping this statement: "I'm not saying to worry, or not worry."

The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres on Sunday, Oct. 23 on AMC.
