Bethesda has just released a new trailer for its upcoming title "Prey." Instead of the usual mysterious space station video footage with the first person perspective of the protagonist Morgan, the trailer entitled "The History of TranStar" shows the alternate history of the game's world.

According to Gamespot, the world of 2017's "Prey" is set in an alternate future after President John F. Kennedy survived the assassination attempt. Because of this, a whole new series of events and consequences have unfolded that caused the President to push the country further into the space race "taking control of a U.S./Russian joint program and transforming a Russian satellite into a fully functional R&D facility meant to study non-terrestrials," according to Bethesda's description of the game. It further reads that the "facility later became Talos I, a highly advanced space station owned by the TranStar Corporation."

However, instead of being the revolutionary station that it is, the TranStar Corporation began conducting "morally dubious experiments" on people including the protagonist Morgan. The scientists were trying to experiment and harness the abilities of the non-terrestrial entity called Typhon. Apparently, things went haywire and soon the entire space station was overrun.

It is actually up to Morgan to use his embedded alien abilities, which he woke up with, to survive the alien infiltration, discover the mystery behind the entity called Typhon, and possibly save humanity in the process.

In a previous report, players can get to choose the gender of Morgan (possibly even have some customizations as well), which is why the name is neutral.

The game is neither a horror nor a shooter game but "it's more like a hybrid game where there's narrative mixed with action mixed with a little bit of [an] RPG layer," explained director Raphael Colantonio.

"Prey" is due out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2017.
