NBA News & Rumors: Cleveland will update the giant mural of LeBron James to reflect the championship title

The Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors to bring the first professional sports championship to the city of Cleveland since 1964.

Giant mural of LeBron James located on Ontario St. Cleveland will be updated. The new mural will show the patch of Larry O'Brien trophy to reflect the NBA championship.

The Nike-sponsored 10-stories-tall mural is an iconic one, showing James with his outstretched arm showing his back in a Cavaliers uniform. The mural was removed on Monday, according to ESPN to be replaced with the new one. The replacement will have a a gold patch of the Larry O'Brien Trophy on the back of James' uniform to celebrate the Cavaliers winning the NBA title last season, which ended the 52-year championship drought.

Cavaliers will put on the new banners on Friday, before the team's first regular season game on Tuesday, Oct. 25 against New York Knicks. In the game, the players will be given championship rings and a title banner will raised to thee rafter in the Cavaliers home court the Quicken Loans Arena.

Prior to the first regular season game, Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert showed off the championship banner in his tweet on Sunday, as reported by Cleveland.com.

Gilbert tweeted ""The 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers championship banner! Next stop: the rafters at Quicken Loans Arena."

The solid wine-colored banner is 100 inches wide and 164 inches tall. It has white and bright gold accents with the Cavaliers "C" logo wrapped around the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Cavaliers won last season's NBA championship after defeating the defending champion Golden State Warriors. Cleveland became the first team in the history of NBA that could comeback and win the championship after 3-0 deficit. Warriors that came out strong in the regular season and set the new world record must deal with the relentless Cavaliers that play like there would be no tomorrow.

The last year's championshil also became the first championship for the rookie coach Tyron Lue. He became one of the few rookie coach who won the NBA championship.
