Milwaukee Bucks rookie Thon Maker showed an impressive skills during his debut game. He recorded 9 points in 20 minutes in a preseason game against Dallas Mavericks. Bucks defeated Mavericks 88-74 on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Forward Jabari Parker led the scoring with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting to defeat the Mavericks, SB Nation reported. However, Maker made an immediate impact in his first game with the Bucks since he was drafted this year.
Maker supported Parker as a rotation player and contributed nine points in his 21 minutes playing time. He also made four rebounds and one block, while head coach Jason Kidd orchestrated a much better game after they struggled to win in their first preseason game against Chicago Bulls. Maker missed the Bucks first preseason game due to a minor injury to his right wrist.
The 7'1" forward showed himself to be a strong rotation player just like what the Bucks needed. His solid defense skill and scoring ability has proved him to bea valuable player for the team. The rest of the team also provided a strong basketball and executed the gameplay strategy devised by coach Kidd very well.
Dallas Mavericks also played very well too after winning 95-88 over New Orleans Hornets on Monday Oct. 3, but they failed to overcome Bucks offense. Dwight Powell led the scorer with 15 points, followed by Seth Curry with 11, NBA.com reported. Milwaukee Bucks which had a better depth in their roster easily won the game.
Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said after the game that his team did not put sufficient pressure to contain Bucks offense. He also praised Kidd for coaching Milwaukee Bucks extremely well.
The game was also a debut for Andrew Bogut for Dallas Mavericks, which he made six rebounds in 14 minutes. He admitted the loss is bad, but he intended to put his first loss to rest to prepare for the next game. Mavericks will host Oklahoma City Thunder in American Airlines Center on Tuesday, Oct. 11, while Bucks will visit Indiana Pacers on Oct. 12 in Ford Center, Indiana.
