The latest chapter of "Tokyo Ghoul:re" chronicles the confrontation of the Quinx Squad and Amon. While Urie plans and implements his attacks to defeat the ghouls, Amon also has a plan to save everyone including Akira.
Chapter 96 "Tokyo Ghoul:re" on Manga Stream starts with Urie learning more about the current situation as Amon successfully gets away from the Ginkui. Mutsuki updated Urie about Akira's action and although he was hesitant of his actions at first, decides to take care of Amon before anything else. He directs the squad to attack with technique developed by Arima.
The attack against Amon was effective as their multiple offenses causes Amon to be stabbed in the back. But even with the successful attack, Amon retaliates and inflicts injury to one of the members of the squad. His counter attack even tore a member's leg off.
His initial success allowed Amon to give instructions to Seidou. Amon will hold the Quinx Squad while Seidou escapes and meet Amon's contact. Seidou left with Yumitsu and Akira while Amon and the request of the Quinx Squad prepare for battle.
On the other hand, Nishiki successfully defends himself against a large number of Aogiri Quinx. Roma tried to intimidate him but she was caught unaware by Shikorae and Kurona. Because of their successful attack, Kurona and Nishiki move on to find Akihiro.
In another fight, Ui is defending himself against Shuu and Naki's multiple attacks. The CCG retaliates against Shuu but their attack was blocked by an unknown hooded figure. But even though the attack was blocked, CCG squad leader Itou is familiar with the hooded figure.
The chapter ends with Itou realizing the identity of the mysterious figure while another hooded figure arrives.
The forum discussion on the upcoming chapter on Manga Helpers focuses on the possible identities of the hooded figure. Their powerful abilities only confirm that they are indeed one of the experienced ghouls who could take on the entire squad. On the other hand, Amon may have his hands full with the Quinx Squad but he will ultimately get away even though Urie's Ginkui is powerful enough to stop Amon.
