The latest episode of "Dragon Ball Super" is one for the books as it offers one of the most intricate timelines in recent memory. The explanation alone on how these nemeses came into being should be carefully understood as it has serious implications on how the characters evolve and their eventual demise.
According to Attack of the Fanboy, Black Goku is not actually Goku: he has the body of Goku but he is actually Zamasu from the future. Because of the revelation it is natural to ask who is the other Zamasu who is also hell bent in defeating the Saiyans. Simple answer: alternate timeline from the future. It is the same Zamasu but from a different timeline, Black Goku's Zamasu invaded his timeline's Goku after he was defeated.
To make matters worse, Zamasu also revealed that he has the time ring which prevents anything from the past affect him. With the ring, his defeat in the past did not matter - even if he is defeated at that moment, it will be considered as past in a moment's notice which means he is healed immediately.
The duo also accused Trunks of messing up the past as it led to this moment. If Trunks did not meddle with the past, Goku would have been dead because of a virus and Black Goku will not exist. Because of their powers the duo also confessed of killing mortals in different universes with Earth as their last stop.
Goku got really angry with the revelation especially when Black Goku confessed of killing his wife and child in a different timeline. Trunks was also angry by the revelation and his anger fueled his new Super Saiyan form according to Otakuvines.
Trunks new form should come with new powers that could be enough to stop the enemy. However, since the challenge is in the different timeline, the solution could also come from someone in a different timeline. The new episodes should reveal how Black Goku and Zamasu are defeated soon.
