CW's "Legend of Tomorrow" is about to start its second season and producers are making sure that for season two, viewers will be reminded how fun time travel is.

Unlike other superhero series which have followed the villain of the week format, "Legends of Tomorrow" has been one heavily serialized show. It is about superheroes travelling in time to stop a villain causing destruction and havoc in present-day Earth. It is part of the DC universe, thus, many of the characters were introduced prior to its first season in some episode of sister shows: "The Flash" and "Arrow".

In an interview with TVline, showrunner Phil Klemmer shared that the second season will be much lighter compared to the first one.

"We wanted to unfold Season 2 much more like a mystery in the macro sense, in terms of what our season-long mystery is." he said.

"We got very sci-fi towards the end of last season, and this season is much more about inhabiting those recognizable historical eras. Because when you say "time machine" to a person, they're never like, "I want to go to the future." The future is always horrible, the world is always coming to an end! You want to go to the past, to see those iconic moments and meet iconic people. Our show is about adventure and irreverence and humor."

Klemmer also discussed about the participation of JSA, aka the Justice Society of America, in the second season's storyline. He said that they have to bring the JSA in because the Legion of Doom's plan is directly related to the fate of the JSA in the '40s. Unlike the first season where there is a singular bad guy, Vandal Savage, season two will be facing the Legion of Doom, where members have their own somewhat competing agendas.

Season two will also see the inclusion of two new badass characters according to Cinema Blend. One of the characters is set to be a woman from the 1940s. She is a member of a paramilitary team comprised of the best of the best. Her race as an African-American as well as her gender have meant that she's worked double time to be accepted among her peers.

Another character will be a man in his late-20s to mid-30s. His grandfather was a World War II hero, and he has had to find ways to cover the insecurities that stem from comparisons. There is no information yet regarding just how he will gain his superpowers, but hopefully they will be wild enough to set him apart from all of the other characters who have been introduced on "Legends of Tomorrow" so far.
