Square Enix has just announced "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue's" limited edition which includes an exclusive King Mickey Mouse and Sora collector's pin. The limited edition will automatically be given to those who pre-order the game.
Basing this information on the official Twitter page of "Kingdom Hearts" (via PlayStation Lifestyle), the limited edition of this installment will become available through Square Enix's online stores and the participating retailers. Interestingly, it seems that the link shared on the Twitter page leads to the European online store of Square Enix. That being said it looks like it will be quite some time before the listing will go live on the North American store. Even the participating retailers haven't been confirmed yet.
In regards to the concept, "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" hasn't revealed what the game is all about yet. According to an earlier article from iDigital Times, a short demo showed a girl named Aqua who lost her memories and desperately tries to find out what she is doing in a timeless strange world. The game uses the Unreal 4 Engine just like how "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be doing in its development.
This game might be an essential transition from previous games to the upcoming third installment, as it may explain numerous mysteries from the "Kingdom Hearts" universe (or multiverse?) to players who may not understand story of the third installment.
"Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" will be released on the PlayStation 4 on Jan. 24, 2017, while Japan gets an earlier release on Jan. 12, 2017.
