"Erin Brockovich" star Julia Roberts is signed in to play the real-life disgraced PTA mom Kelli Peters in "Framed" for drug possession. She is about to be framed in the project that she produces.

According to Variety, the true crime movie "Framed" is based on "I'll Get You!' Drugs, Lies, and the Terrorizing of a PTA Mom." The book was written by Los Angeles Times writer Christopher Goffard. Peters was the subject of the recent six-part series.

The book adaptation of "Framed" indicated the details of the bizarre case of Peters. Peters' life was nearly destroyed after being framed for drug possession.

In "Framed," Jill and Kent Easters are the parents of another child at the elementary school in Irvine, California. Peters' daughter also went at the same elementary school.

In the plot of "Framed," the parents planted drugs such as marijuana and pills in Peters' car. They did it intentionally as part of a smear campaign to have Peter ousted as the president of Parents-Teachers Association (PTA). They wanted to destroy Peter's reputation.

"Framed" revealed that the Easters had harassed and even filed a civil suit against Peters before planting the drugs. The conflict between the couple and Peters started in one incident when the couple's son was left locked outside the school for a few minutes while under Peter's care.

"Framed" showed that criminal charges were brought against the Easters who are both lawyers. Peters eventually won $5.7 million in civil court over the ordeal, as Entertainment Weekly reported.

Roberts recently played a maternal role in "Mother's Day." She is currently filming R.J. Palacio's best-seller book adaptation "Wonder." "Room" alum Jacob Tremblay plays her son along with Owen Wilson and Daveed Diggs.

"Framed" is packaged as a feature film and is currently being evaluated by multiple bidders. CAA represents Roberts and is shopping for the project.
