Director JJ Abrams has been setting his sights on new movie ventures. From being dedicated to recapturing the feel of classic movies like "Star Wars," the director will now be planning this time on a video game-based movie: Valve's very own "Portal."

It was mentioned earlier this year around March that "Star Wars Episode 7" director JJ Abrams is set on directing Valve's big titles like "Portal" and "Half-Life." Based on reports from IGN, the director mentioned about being very active in this project that he even plans on meeting with the game's company Valve around the first week of October to discuss this. He's even "hoping that there will be a 'Portal' announcement fairly soon."

However, other than announcing the collaboration with Valve, there haven't been any other details on what movie's plot will be, whether based on the actual stories in the games themselves or even a continuity. Even the cast and release dates hasn't been decided on. But, one thing's for sure, he's been actively discussing with writers on the project - writers whose names Abrams are not willing to disclose.

Abrams expressed how much he enjoys working with these writers, people who actually "get it" in making a decent "Portal" movie. Both the possibilities of a "Portal" and "Half Life" movie were actually first mentioned in a DICE Summit back in 2013, which fans are delighted to hear updates on this resurface.

In other news, director JJ Abrams and Valve's Gabe Newell has been also rumored to collaborate on a video game, according to Gamespot. However, further news on this still remains to be seen. Abrams, on his side, has also been working with Bad Robot to work on "Spyjinx," an action-strategy game for PC and mobile devices set for release in 2016.
