A lot of games have been patched and updated to support the new consoles' engine, especially for the PlayStation 4 Pro's 4K features. However, such is not the case for CD Projekt RED's "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt."
According to Eurogamer, the game company wanted to focus more on their new projects like the "Witcher"-related "Gwent: The Witcher Card Game" and the sci-fi, futuristic "Cyberpunk 2077." CD Projekt RED mentioned that they decided not to go for an updated edition because "converting 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' from a full HD game into a 4K one [on console] would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process." The PC version, on the other hand, is said to actually support the 4K features.
As much as it is possible to have the game supporting 4K on PS4 Pro, Digital Foundry's Tom Morgan stated that it is actually harder than it sounds. According to Morgan, textures can range from medium to high quality only on consoles. In contrast to that, the PC version can be raised to ultra settings, with shadow textures and draw distance being better there.
In other news, for CD Projekt RED's upcoming RPG project, "Cyberpunk 2077" is far cry from the fantasy, medieval setting of "The Witcher" series, being totally futuristic and sci-fi themed. According to an earlier article from PC Games N, the game company has been on the lookout for programmers and concept artists who can help out in creating vehicles, robots, and other mechanical devices.
"Cyberpunk 2077" is still in development with no current updates on its release, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still available on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
