Firaxis Games' "Civilization VI" has just revealed another of its available civilizations to play with - Greece. Although the well-known empire of the ancient world has been around since the first game, the Grecian civilization showcases something new in the latest installment, one of which is a new leader named Pericles.

A new trailer was just released showcasing the capabilities of Greece. A unique ability called Plato's Republic provides an additional wildcard slot for any government, which supposedly allows players to access more policies, as stated by PC Games N.

The Greeks also have a new structure replacing the Theater District from the previous games called the Acropolis. Acropolis, which stands for "highest or topmost city," has to be established on top of an elevated terrain. The structure's capabilities include more culture adjacency bonuses especially if positioned close to districts.

In every empire in the "Civilization" game, they also boast their own units. For the sixth installment in the series, Greece has the Hoplite unit. Just like the warriors in actual history, the Hoplites have the typical uniform consisting of bronze armor with the typical Grecian-style helmets. Their arsenal consists of the dory spear and the hoplon shield. These warriors receive basic training and are taught the tactics of the phalanx formation, a military innovation used in the army between 750-350 BC.

Now, with the mention of a new leader, the Greek leader Pericles has an ability called Surrounded by Glory, which gives culture bonuses, with effects which relies on specific conditions. Previous versions of Greece from the past games always had Alexander the Great as the leader, so it's actually a refreshing start seeing another notable Greek figure from history.

In history, it was during the Golden Age of Athens that Pericles as a statesman and general of the Athenian army highly influenced the prominent city-state. During his reign, the nation went through a period of strong economic and cultural growth even after successfully defending against the Persian invaders in 478 BC.

iDigital Times reported that Greece is proficient to succeed in the Culture aspect. Other victory types can be achieved as well. Their combat units, the Hoplites, are also well equipped to counter aggressive hostiles such as the Scythians or Aztecs.

"Civilization VI" is slated for release on Oct. 1. Other civilizations mentioned in earlier news that players can try out include Norway, Spain, England, India, France, Japan and the United States, to name a few. The United States was one of the first civilizations to be introduced with Theodore Roosevelt as its leader.
