Project girl group I.O.I is asking their fans to wait for their reunion after their official disbandment on Sunday.
According to Korea Herald, the 11-member girl group had their final activity as a band on Jan. 25, where they talked about reuniting after five years. "Just like Sechs Kies, we wish to get back together," Kim Se Jung said.
Despite reunion plans, the I.O.I members recognized that it will not be easy to hold a get-together after splitting considering that they belong to different agencies. However, the girls are still hopeful that their fans will still be there when that day happens.
"I know it's hard, but I hope there will be some people still looking for us even after five years," the I.O.I member added.
Soompi cited the I.O.I members shared a meal with their respective families after their successful farewell concert held last Jan. 22. Reports stated the girls felt an emotional roller coaster while celebrating their final moments together.
In fact, members who have prior commitments were even allowed to join their I.O.I co-members for one last night before all of them get caught up with their schedules. The gathering was made even more special with the presence of those people who formed the girl group through "Produce 101."
Mnet's "Produce 101" is a reality show where girls from different agencies compete in order to be qualified for a unit girl group. The 11 members of I.O.I were the chosen ones out of 101 contestants who tried their luck to be selected for the girl group.
I.O.I made their official debut with the release of "Dream Girls" on May 4. A day later, the newest girl group made their stage debut on "M! Countdown," where they performed "Knock knock knock."
