The Los Angeles Lakers (17-36) and New York Knicks (22-30) will face each other at the Madison Square Garden on Monday, Feb. 6 as the 2016-2017 NBA regular season continues.

Los Angeles has continued to struggle this season, losing 10 of their last 12 matches as the team dropped to the second from the last place in the Western Conference standings.

The Lakers are coming off a 113-107 defeat in a marquee match-up with the Boston Celtics at the TD Garden on Friday night, as per the Los Angeles Times.

Head coach Luke Walton's boys were not able to stop Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas in the contest as he erupted for 38 points, 17 of which were scored in the fourth quarter. Walton has not played Julius Randle during the match as he is returning from an illness, although the power forward is suited up on the Lakers' bench.

D'Angelo Russell had 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists in a losing effort while fellow starter Nick Young added 17 points, three boards, three assists, and two steals.

Three bench players scored in double figures for the Lakers with Lou Williams top-scoring with 21 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Larry Nance Jr. contributed a double-double of 18 points and 11 boards with four assists and three steals while rookie Brandon Ingram had 14 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Knicks are also still reeling with six losses in their last nine games. The team is currently 11th in the East right now, one-and-a-half games behind eighth-seeded squad Detroit Pistons.

In their most recent game last Saturday, New York was beaten by defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers, 111-104, also at the Madison Square Garden, ABC News reported.

LeBron James and Kevin Love were almost unstoppable in the game as Carmelo Anthony and company succumbed to their third loss in four outings.

Brandon Jennings started in place of the injured Derrick Rose and top-scored with 23 points along with 10 assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Anthony and Courtney Lee both fired 17 markers and combined for 10 boards.

Off the bench, rookie center Willy Hernangomez chipped in 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Prediction 

The Lakers are 5-23 on the road while the Knicks are 13-12 at home this season. A close win for New York is predicted.
